I'm writing this on an Asus Eee PC 1000HE,surprisingly enough pronounced
[link]I quite like it so far, but I only got it today so it might be too early to sing its praises. Battery life seems amazing and it's insanely portable, which is really what convinced me to get this the first computer I haven't put together myself and installed an OEM license of Windows on. It's a bit creepy to not have the actual install discs but there are recovery discs and a recovery partition so I should be fine...
There are still something about just getting an out of the box experience that I find unsettling though, maybe it's the perceived lack of control, not sure. I'm actually downloading Ubuntu as I type this so I'll rectify this soon enough, besides, I'll be upgrading the RAM after class tomorrow. It'll probably be a dual boot.
The keyboard is darned good on these things, I'd say just as good if not better than on most notebooks I've tried, though I should tell anyone reading this that I have never actually used any notebook for any real period of time as I've always been a desktop kind of guy. But I did type away on quite a few netbooks before deciding on this one, heck the specks outside the keyboards and touchpads are all the same so that's really what it came down to, and battery life.
Now if only I can figure out how to install my old games from ten years ago on this thing despite the lack of an optical drive I'll be set!
